פסטיבל מדרום לאמנות רב תחומית באופקים מתרחב מ‑16 שנות פעילות וניסיון, כאירוע תרבות מרכזי, לתשתית תרבותית רציפה — מנוע צמיחה אזורי בכל אזור הנגב המערבי — הפועל לקידום אמנות השתתפותית, חוסן קהילתי וצמיחה תרבותית בנגב המערבי. בעקבות אירועי ה‑7 באוקטובר, מתוך אמונה בכוחה של תרבות לקדם חוסן קהילתי בר‑קיימא ולהצמיח את האזור מחדש, הוקמה עמותת מדרום כמנוע צמיחה קהילתי אמנותי.

עמותת מדרום תפעל ליצירת תוכניות, גופים ופעולות תרבות בני‑קיימא, קידום הכשרה ותעסוקה לאמנים ולספקים מקומיים, מחקר ומודלים של תרבות קהילתית הניתנים לשכפול והוראה, מרכזים לאמנים ומנהלי תרבות בנגב ותיירות תרבותית.

שינוי אסטרטגי זה מבסס את אופקים כמרכז התרבות של הנגב המערבי, תוך פיתוח מודלים ניתנים לשכפול של חוסן קהילתי מבוסס אמנות ותרבות — בתגובה לצורך הדחוף של האזור בריפוי, התחדשות קהילתית, תרבותית וכלכלית.

החזון והמשימה שלנו

בעקבות ה‑7 באוקטובר, קהילות הנגב המערבי ניצבות בפני אתגרים חסרי תקדים. מדרום מובילה את ריפוי האזור והתאוששותו דרך כח השינוי של אמנות, תרבות ובניית קהילה. אנחנו מאמינים שחוסן קהילתי הינו חלק חיוני ומהותי בהליך השיקום של האזור ותושביו. דרך אמנות השתתפותית ושיתופית, אנחנו מעבדים טראומה, משקמים את הרקמה החברתית, ויוצרים תקווה לעתיד.

ערכי הליבה:

  • נגישות תרבותית לכולם — הנגשת אמנות ותרבות איכותית לכל תושב בנגב המערבי
  • שוויון וצדק תרבותי — גישור פערים בין מרכז לפריפריה, העצמת קולות מוחלשים

מה אנחנו עושים

יצירה קהילתית אזורית: מדרום משתפת פעולה עם ארגוני תרבות מובילים ואמנים ידועים להובלת תהליכי יצירה השתתפותיים בכל רחבי הנגב המערבי. התושבים יוצרים יחד יצירות מקוריות של מחול, תיאטרון, מוזיקה, אמנות חזותית ותוכניות לילדים. תהליכים אלו מגיעים לשיאם בפסטיבל מדרום השנתי, המתקיים זו השנה ה‑16 ב‑25–29.5.26 בשיתוף פעולה בין מכללת ספיר (המחלקה לתרבות) ועיריית אופקים, ונמשכים לאורך כל השנה בערים, קיבוצים, מושבים, שכונות ומרחבים ציבוריים משותפים.

פיתוח מקצועי ותיירות תרבותית: מדרום תפעיל תוכניות הכשרה לארגונים, חברות וקבוצות תיירות, ומציעה סדנאות מעשיות ביצירה השתתפותית ובתיירות תרבותית. תוכניות אלו מבססות את הנגב המערבי כיעד לפרקטיקה תרבותית חדשנית.

מוביליות חברתית דרך קהילות יצירה: מדרום מקדמת מוביליות חברתית על ידי טיפוח קהילות יצירה של אמנים ותושבים מקומיים מרקעים מגוונים. אמנים מקבלים כלים מקצועיים, למידת עמיתים ותעסוקה איכותית, בעוד תושבים נהנים מחוויות תרבות ברמה גבוהה ומתפקידים משמעותיים בתהליכי יצירה. עבודה זו מסייעת לצמצם פערי מרכז‑פריפריה עמוקים ומחזקת את הלכידות והמוביליות האזורית.

MeDarom Festival for Multidisciplinary Arts in Ofakim is expanding from 16 years of activity and experience as a flagship cultural event into a continuous cultural infrastructure — a regional growth engine across the Western Negev — dedicated to advancing participatory arts, community resilience, and cultural growth. In the wake of October 7th, and rooted in the belief in culture's power to foster sustainable community resilience and renew the region, MeDarom was established as an artistic community growth engine.

MeDarom will work to create sustainable cultural programs, bodies, and initiatives; advance training and employment for local artists and suppliers; develop research and replicable models of community culture; establish hubs for artists and culture managers in the Negev; and promote cultural tourism.

This strategic shift establishes Ofakim as a cultural hub of the Western Negev, while developing replicable models of art- and culture-based community resilience — in response to the region's urgent need for healing, and community, cultural, and economic renewal.

Our Vision and Mission

In the aftermath of October 7th, the communities of the Western Negev face unprecedented challenges. MeDarom is leading the healing and recovery of the region through the transformative power of art, culture, and community building. We believe that community resilience is an essential and integral part of the recovery process for the region and its residents. Through participatory and collaborative art, we process trauma, rebuild the social fabric, and create hope for the future.

What We Do

Regional Community-Based Creation: MeDarom partners with leading cultural organizations and renowned artists to lead participatory creation processes across the Western Negev. Residents co-create original works of dance, theater, music, visual art, and children's programming. These processes culminate in the annual MeDarom Festival, held this year for the 16th time on May 25–29, 2026, in partnership with Sapir College (Department of Culture) and the Ofakim Municipality — and continue year-round in cities, kibbutzim, moshavim, neighborhoods, and shared public spaces.

Professional Development and Cultural Tourism: MeDarom will operate training programs for organizations, companies, and tourism groups, offering hands-on workshops in participatory creation and cultural tourism. These programs position the Western Negev as a destination for innovative cultural practice.

Social Mobility Through Creative Communities: MeDarom promotes social mobility by cultivating creative communities of artists and local residents from diverse backgrounds. Artists receive professional tools, peer learning, and quality employment, while residents gain access to high-quality cultural experiences and meaningful roles in creative processes. This work helps reduce deep center-periphery gaps and strengthens regional cohesion and mobility.
